Isle Madame Historical Society

The Isle Madame Historical Society is a non-profit organization devoted to collecting and presenting the rich history of the local area.

IMHS recognizes the importance of this island's rich heritage and wishes to document this information, for the benefit of present and future generations. IMHS is also an education centre for everyone to learn about our past which dates back to 17th century.


500 photos, "The Richmond Record which was once our local newspaper, church records, school registers and the history of our four Parishes (Arichat, West Arichat, PDG, D'Escousse), can all be found at our centre. If your interested in genealogy, this is a great place to begin your search of family roots.


"LeNoir Forge Museum" in Arichat, where two brothers, Thomas and Simon LeNoir, sailed from France and set up a blacksmith and locksmith business. This area became involved in the ship chandler business, with it's deepwater wharf and slip and allowed them to service many of the vessels that came to the area.
