My 2nd great-grandfather Jean-Baptiste Dugas was born 1840 and raised in Arichat. Moved to Gloucester MA and became a famous schooner fishing captian. Will be visiting my family roots area this summer with my wife. Can't wait.

I visited Arichat in 1984 and have wanted to go back ever since. My grandmother, Xenobie Florence Gerrior was born there (mid 1800's?) - her father Paul Gerrior was a sea captain. I beleive her mother is buried there.

I visited Arichat on Monday 10/13/09 to see the Celtic Colors performance in D'escousse and I thought your island was beautiful. I also happened upon your cemetery and it seems as if the island was settled by just a few families. Is there a history of the families and the island so that I could read more about your interesting part of the world? Thanks and I really enjoyed my short stay.
